Smoking Policy

Your health is important to us!

The Bacon County Hospital and Health System is committed to the promotion of health, which includes prevention as well as treatment of disease. Cigarette smoking is a significant cause of preventable illness in this country and its damaging effects on smokers, as well as non-smokers exposed to tobacco smoke, are seen in the more than 1000 deaths in this country daily from smoking related illnesses. Our health system is proud to promote a smoke-free environment for every patient, resident, staff, student and visitor.

No smoking is allowed in patient rooms unless by physician order.
No smoking in bed.
No smoking in semiprivate rooms unless both patients have orders allowing them to smoke.

The following are the only designated smoking areas:
1. The patio located at the end of the wing next to health information management.
2. The patio located next to the cafeteria.
3. The back porch of the long-term care department.
If you are unsure about these locations or these policies, ask the nursing staff.
