Second Story Project to begin in 2008

Local lenders Alma Exchange Bank and FNB South have agreed to jointly provide the $10 million in funding needed for the expansion of Bacon County Hospital and Health System. At the regular meeting of the hospital authority board Tuesday, July 24, 2007, the group voted unanimously to accept the loan offered by the two financial institutions and loan documents were signed. the hospital will also provide an additional 2 million from reserved funds.

The second floor will include a 25-bed patient area, made up of 21 private patient rooms and four ICU private patient rooms. In addition, extensive renovations to the ground floor will be made once the second floor is complete.

The project is expected to begin in July 2008 and is estimated to take at least 18 months to complete.
