Only two months after taking the position of CEO, she was instrumental in acquiring funding for the addition of a second story to the hospital. "Cindy Turner is, unequivocally, one of the most respected leaders in the rural health community as well as around the state," said Earl Rogers, GHA President. "She is well-equipped to face the current health care challenges, and we look forward to her leadership."

Among her significant accomplishments, Turner was named CEO of the Year at the Annual Council on Auxiliaries/Volunteers (COA/V) Conference. She has been a member of the Georgia Department of Community Health's State Office of Rural Health Advisory Board and has served as a trustee of the Georgia Hospital Association's Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Fund. She has served as Chairman of the Center for Rural Health, and also served as a board member, and has served on the American Hospital Association council for Small Rural Hospitals.

"Cindy Turner's election as chairwoman of the GHA Board is a wonderful achievement, both for Cindy as well as Bacon County Hospital and the entire community of Alma," said Roger Boatright, chairman of Bacon County Hospital. "She is a proven talented leader who has led the hospital through growth and success and we know her leadership skills will serve her well on the Board."
